While on another project at a coworking space in LA. I was approached by a principle of TigerComm. Their regular graphics lead was out of the country and they needed some animations added very quickly to a video that was to play at The Climate Registry‘s annual Cool Planet Award ceremony. “Very quickly” meant two days.
I contacted my friend Vincent Burkhead who I knew would be able to design some great static graphics with the proper look and feel, that I could then animate. I’m more of a math person, meaning if I have the right visual assets, I can make them move.
Still, it was a crunch. We had near ten separate animations to do, from credits to data visualizations, and even though none on their own pushed any boundaries, I had never done so many motion graphics and edited them together in a single project in such a short time before. It was definitely a challenge that was fulfilling to see work out in the end.
This was another piece in the space of environmental education, something I deeply believe in. So I was and remain grateful for this opportunity, and love the way it came out.
