Ian Paget, the “Logo Geek”, was looking for ideas for articles related to graphic and logo design. I had already written a few stories for some designers I’d met through work integrating website backends. One of them suggested I pitch an idea I’d be interested in, and I simply combined my love for space exploration with Ian’s love for logos. Hence, “Logos In Space”.
I really enjoyed getting to learn about the history of the world’s space agencies, companies, and organizations through their visual branding. The NASA logo, for example, is one of the most popular images in history… I must see it on a shirt at least once a week… but there’s a rich and personal story behind it, and other associated marks of the space age, that I got to get in touch with thanks to this assignment.
I also always appreciate a chance to improve my writing. Film, video, graphics, words… it’s all about communication, after all.
